Vegan Berry & Chocolate ice cream bars in California Adventure!
Yummy vegan friendly sweets in California Adventure! Mixed berry bar dipped in dark chocolate, with dark chocolate chips! (The sprinkles and confetti were dairy free, but unclear if vegan). The chef was nice enough to double check ingredients, and even made it in the back separate from all the other ice cream to avoid cross contamination. Whoo! Got this at Clarabelles Ice Cream Shop, not far from the entrance. It. Was. DELICIOUS! $6ish for a bite of choco heaven. I get so giddy whenever I get to try new veg options in Disneyland and California Adventure Park 💕🏰🌱 Now I won't have to always rely on a Dole Whip (and those horrendous lines) to get something cold and refreshing on hot days!

Quick mini guide for vegan eats at Disneyland & California Adventure
I thought it would be helpful to make a quick little list of food I'd suggest in the parks. So here it is!
Snacks & sweets- I've gotta mention that the dole whips, popcorn, and Mickey pretzels are all vegan, and are definitely favorites.
There are many different carts and stands in both parks that have fruits, veggies, hummus & crackers, and chips.
Rice milk chocolate bar, dark chocolate bar, and sugar cookies at candy palace & critter country shop.
Breakfast - Hash browns, or gluten free vegan Mickey waffles at Plaza Inn in Disneyland.
Pizza and pasta - it's not on the menu, but you can get vegan pizza in both parks in personal pizza size, or family size! Available at the Red Rocket Pizza Port in Disneyland and at Boardwalk Pizza & Pasta in California Adventure. Ask for it! At both locations you can order pasta (gf option) with marinara as well.
Mexican food - vegetarian tacos and taco salad (gluten free available) is available in both parks, at Rancho Del Zocalo and Cocina Cucamonga. Ask for no cheese or sour cream and you're good to go!
Bowls - Veggie gumbo at Cafe Orleans in Disneyland is vegan. (Ask for no crackers, they've got dairy)
Burgers - Chefs vegan burger at Carnation Cafe in Disneyland. Ask for the patty well done. Fries are fried in same oil as non vegan items, if that's a concern, get fruit!
Fine dining - Portobello mushroom and couscous maque chou at Blue Bayou in Disneyland. Vegan pasta or custom veggie tower (varies depending on the chef) at Carthay Circle restaurant in California Adventure.
Sandwiches - portobello & veggie sandwich (ask for no cheese or sauce) from Tomorrowland Terrace in Disneyland. Portobello mushroom philly (ask for no cheese) at Award Wieners in California Adventure. *UPDATE* these sandwiches are no longer available as Vegan.
Skewers - Veggie and tofu skewer at Big Thunder Ranch BBQ (frontier land) or veggie skewers and Bengal BBQ (adventure land) in Disneyland. Veggie and tofu skewer (get it with chimichuri sauce) with rice pilaf and pita bread at Paradise Garden Grill in California Adventure.
Healthier options - veggie and grain salad at Jolly Holiday on Main Street Disneyland. Ask for the side bread with no cheese. Vegan sushi in Carthay bar in California adventure, it's modified off the menu. Get it wrapped in rice paper.
Other favorites worth mentioning - chili pretzel cone (ask for no cheese) at Cozy Cones in Cars land - California Adventure (*UPDATE* Bread come is no longer Vegan. Chili is Vegan without cheese*). Tofu teriyaki, veggies and rice. Also edamame at Lucky Fortune Cookery in California Adventure.
These are just some favorites, but there are lots of other vegan and vegetarian options. So don't be afraid to ask your server! Happy eating!

Vegan chili pretzel cone in California Adventure Park
Update: Cone is no longer Vegan. Chili is still vegan, however price is still the same for just a small cup of the chili.
In case you missed my #periscope earlier, the highlight was getting one of my favs in Disneys California Adventure park, the Chili Cone Queso in Cars Land (look for the cozy cone motel). It's a pretzel cone filled with vegetarian chili, and topped with Fritos. It's automatically vegetarian, so make sure you ask for no cheese to make it vegan.

We have been debating over a day to have this meet up for some time now, and have finally decided on Sunday October 18th! Initially this was going to be a gathering of 15 people or so, but we think many more might like to join us, and possibly even do this annually.
There are tons of unofficial themed days people celebrate in Disneyland, so we thought, why not a day for vegans and vegetarians?! Come join us for a day of fun, rides, food (yes, there are lots of vegan and vegetarian options in both parks!), and giveaways! Invite your friends!! The more the merrier!
Meet up times will be announced closer to the date.
*If you would like to donate a prize for one of our giveaways, please contact us! We are currently discussing prize options with a couple of rad businesses. (It does have to be in some way vegan or vegetarian related)

Chefs vegan burger in Disneyland
This is the Chefs Vegan Burger at Carnation Cafe on Main Street in Disneyland (sorry for the dark photo!). It's a decent attempt, but the house made patty was bland and fell apart. I drenched it in the chipotle sauce and ketchup to give it some much needed flavor. The plain wheat bun was just as boring. I did eat it (I hate to waste food), but nicely informed our waitress it wasn't very good. To my surprise she said we weren't the only ones dissatisfied with the burger. Hopefully they'll rethink the recipe. It would be even better if they went with a gardein patty topped with daiya cheese and a pretzel bun (a girl can dream!). Then they'd have a decent burger! I'll give the chefs vegan burger another shot eventually, in the off chance the chef was just having a bad vegan burger day.

Vegan & gluten free pizza in California Adventure park
Stopped in at Boardwalk Pizza in California Adventure thanks to a tip from a friend who said they also have vegan and gluten free options. I ordered the vegan Daiya cheese pizza with a gluten free crust. Unlike Pizza Port in disneyland, they had no problem adding my choice of veggies on top. Perfectly grilled mushroom, garlic, and red and green peppers! It took about 10 minutes for them to bake them custom pie, and at the register they advised its extra $ for the modified pizza. Came out to 9.99 (they charged it as a spaghetti dish), but I had a couple of bucks knocked off thanks to my annual pass. It was piping hot and delicious! I highly recommend it! Oh, and this time the employees didn't seem clueless when I asked about the vegan and gluten free option. Go DCA! 😘🍕
Vegan & gluten free pizza in Disneyland
There have been many rumors about Daiya cheese at Disneyland these days, so after a few drinks in California Adventure Park, we scurried over to Red Rockett's Pizza Port in Disneyland. I asked two employees about vegan/non dairy cheese options, and they had no idea what I was talking about. Thankfully one of them called out the chef who was very knowledgable and seemed very happy and eager to "meet my dietary needs". He was more than happy to whip up a personal sized, Daiya vegan pizza with a gluten free crust! 😁 He asked if I had any food sensitivities or allergies and I made the mistake of saying "yes! Dairy!" (Which I know comes from many years of fibbing at restaurants just so they won't mess up and put cheese on my food). Because of this they didn't add any veggies due to possible cross contamination. (At least they're taking this seriously!!) It took about 10 minutes to make, but the chef walked it over to my table and gave the piping hot pie a grand presentation upon serving it. ☺️ It was the perfect junk food after a bit of binge drinking! Piping hot crust, and gooey vegan cheese.
What I learned: 1. Don't waste valuable pizza nomming time, just ask for the chef.
2. Don't tell them you have a dairy allergy unless you really do or you're concerned about possible cross contamination. Otherwise you'll probably get some rad veggies too.
3. Be prepared to wait, but it's worth it.
4. Pizza Port seems to close a few hours before the park shuts down, so get there early.
I'm just happy to slowly but surely see more vegan and gluten free options in Disneyland.

Tofu teriyaki with rice & veggies in Ca Adventure
Lunch at the Lucky fortune cookery in California Adventure park. Tofu teriyaki with veggies and white rice, and a side of edamame. Keep in mind, 2 of the 4 sauces are vegan, the teryaki (slightly spicy) and the spicy Korean sauces. The coconut curry and mandarin sauces contain dairy.

Veggie and grain salad in Disneyland
Dinner at Jolly Holiday on Main St. Disneyland. Grilled Vegetable & Whole Grain Salad, with vegetables, mixed greens, barley spelt, with basil vinaigrette. Comes with a breadstick. There was nothing mentioned in the menu about cheese on the breadstick, I learned the hard way. Ask for it without the breadstick to make it vegan. The basil vinaigrette is vegan. :)
Tofu & veggie skewers in Ca Adventure
Vegetable and tofu skewers served with rice pilaf, cucumber salad, chimichurri sauce and grilled pita bread at the Paradise Garden Grill near Goofy's Sky School ride. Only two of the four sauces are vegan, be sure to ask before ordering. :)

Watermelon and sorbet in California Adventure.
Drinks and appetizers at Carthay Circle restaurant and lounge in California Adventure Park.
Mojito and a watermelon cubes topped with dairy free mango sorbet, sprinkled with chili powder.
Vegan sushi in California Adventure
Did you know at Carthay Circle Bar they can veganize the sushi rolls? These were the lobster rolls, minus the lobster, of course. Usually they ask me if I want it wrapped in rice paper or seaweed. Just let them know you're vegan and they'll omit all the seafood in the sushi and the sauce.

Beginnings
As a Disneyland annual pass-holder, over the years I've gone from having to constantly bring my own vegan food, to having almost an abundance of vegan food options in both Disneyland and California Adventure Park. After noticing a few options here and there, I became slightly obsessed with knowing exactly where I can go at any given time for a delicious bite. I've asked many employees, read quite a few ingredients booklets, and talked with some of the chefs at both parks. Vegan and vegetarian friends began asking me for suggestions and sending others my way, so I decided to create an Instagram account so I could geotag veg options in the park with photos and share the info with others, so far, it's working out very well!
This blog will be a simple guide to vegan, vegetarian, and some gluten free options in the Disney parks, as well as other vegan (and vegan friendly) eateries in Southern California, food products, and cruelty free products. I will however utilize Instagram more frequently, so feel free to follow me at @DisneylandVegan on Instagram, as well as Facebook. Cheers!
